Union government decided to fence over Bangladesh waters based on skid marine hedge model of Singapore. As the area of Indo-Bangladesh border is hugely marked by rivers and wetlands, the central government has decided to implant special kind of fence over water.
The fencing based on skid marine hedge model will help to prevent immigrants trying to enter into the mainland of the India.
Interestingly, of the 3326 kilometre border only 501 kilometres is left without fence of which 130 kilomteres is land where barbed wire fencing is going on and the rest of the portion is covered with rivers and water bodies.
About skid marine hedge model
In 2003, the Singapore made a long wall along their Pulao Ubin beach so that the illegal boat of the immigrants cannot push back to their coast. After that they align a floating drum wall in the sea of Pasir Ris beach of Singapore.
The drum walls will be inter-connected with wires so that people cannot cross over. Although this doesn't have an aesthetic view but it can be an effective method to prevent immigrants.
