Ukraine pulled back troops from Luhansk Airport

Luhansk airport: Ukraine troops pulled back
Luhansk airport in eastern Ukraine was in news because of Ukrainian troops pulling back from the airport on 1 September 2014.
The Ukrainian troops pulled back after a coloumn of Russian tanks entered the airfield which was described by President Petro Poroshenko as direct and open aggression by Russia.

However, Russia denied helping the rebels in the Russian-speaking east of Ukraine who want to be part of Russia ather than Ukraine which seeks integration into mainstream Europe.
The pulling back from the airport is strategically a big loss to Ukraine because it was being held by Ukrainian paratroopers who could have been easily be supplied by the air anywhere.
